Receiving Emails through Outlook 2003
These procedures may be different for different versions of Outlook. For Outlook Express go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/oe/setup.mspx.
- Make sure you know the following:
- Your domain name. For example: asafercompany.com
- Your email address. For example:
- Your email password.
- Open Outlook and go to your emails.
- In the top menu, select Tools > E-mail Accounts
- Select Add a new e-mail account
- Select POP3
- Enter the following information:
- User Information
- Your Name: enter your name as you want others to see it. For example: John Doe
- Email Address: Enter your email address.
For example: jeanie@asafercompany.com - Logon Information
- User Name: your email address
For example: jeanie@asafercompany.com - Password: your password
Remember that passwords are case sensitive. - Server Information New as of 2008-02-15
- Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.accountsupport.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.accountsupport.com
- This is how my email is set up for my domain name asafercompany.com:
- Point and click on More Settings: and click on the Advanced tab.
- Look at the bottom of this window in the Delivery section. This section is very important.
- Leave a copy of messages on the server should not checked if this is your primary computer where you usually handle your email.
- If this is a temporary or secondary computer you are using then check the Leave a copy of messages on the server and check Remove from server when deleted from Deleted Items.
- Click on the Outgoing Server tab and make sure that My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is checked and Use same setting as my incoming mail server is selected.
- Click on OK on the Internet E-mail Settings screen.
- Point and click on Test Account Settings. Each item should pass the test. If not, please review the set up you did above. Close the Window.
- Make sure that you test sending and receiving email from Outlook. If you have problems, sending or receiving emails in Outlook click here and follow the steps to test the different components of email to determine where the problems exists.
